[Seeing Hawaii as a Visitor.
I see Hawaii as a visitor,
Land of the three mountains,
It is me and my dear beloved,
Enduring the great sea,
You are not far, O Hawaii,
For the speeding prow of the Mauna Kea,
I stepped upon,
That great, wide deck,
I saw the beauty of Hilo Hanakahi,
A town bright with loveliness,
Softly fragrant is the lehua of Panaewa,
A lei admired by the visitors,
I long to see,
The famous fires of the woman,
This is why I came,
Enduring the four seas,
To see great Hawaii of Keawe,
Famous land of the east,
Witness the beauty of the rising sun,
The misty smoke of Kilauea,
Just like Kawaihau,
The top of Maunakea is blanketed,
I glanced at Maunaloa,
Like a konane board in the calm,
I gazed at Halemaumau,
The sacred home of yours, O Pele,
I stood in admiration of the beauty,
The rippling glittering waters,
Pele displayed her beauty,
The astonishing amazing deeds,
Glorious is the uplands of Uwekahuna,
And the sacred cliffs of Kahoalii,
Hiiaka is chiefly, reigning sacredly,
Astonishing woman who performs amazing deeds,
It is she that shook,
The four corners of Kilauea,
May I and my beloved live,
Until reaching the world of light,
Let the refrain be heard,
Of Hiiakaikapoliopele.
