Duke Kahanamoku and Hui Nalu in SF follow up, 1913.

On the Wilhelmina of this past Wednesday [10/8/1913], Duke Kahanamoku and his teammates of the Hui Nalu left for San Francisco, for the competition with the other swimming contestants who will enter into the swimming contest which will be held in the second half of this month at that city.

  1. After reading the previous article about this intended journey, I am pleased to find out that Duke them successfully were able to travel to San Francisco for the swim meet. Presumably the necessary $200 was raised, which was the amount needed, according to the other article.

    Although the event wasn’t going to happen till about Oct. 20th or so, the ocean voyage took 5 to 6 days then, so they wouldn’t be arriving in SF till the 13th or 14th.
