WORDS OF CONDOLENCES.
To Mrs. Wahine Kaiu and the child of the two of you, Isaac W. Kaiu.
Sympathy to you both:
We, the Luna of the brethren of the Kapaa church, island of Kauai, by way of our Committee:
Whereas, the Almighty Father has kindly taken the last breath of your chief Simeona Kaiu at 12 o’clock in the night of the 23rd of January, 1897, at your own residence “Ka Puuwai Aloha,” Waipouli, Kauai, and this has caused your heart to grieve, therefore,
It has been resolved:—1. We join in your grieving in this shared sadness.
2. The sadness put upon you unfolds upon us.
3. Our prayer to the Almighty Father is to lighten your sorrow.
Sincerely,
Committee: David Kua,
Sam. U. Kaneole,
Jonah B. Cummings,
