Escape attempt from quarantine, 1881.

This past Monday, a woman and her daughter who is suffering from smallpox attempted to escape from the Government quarantine. They rented a car, shrouded the daughter, and went off to Ewa. When the police department heard, an officer on horse chased after this woman, and found them on the road for Ewa; the escapees were returned to Honolulu nei and the sick one was returned to Kahakaaulana, and the mother was quarantined, and the car driver was given before Judge Pekekona [Richard F. Bikerton].
