Tsunami, April 26, 1879?

Strong Sea.—On Saturday, that being the past 26th of April, there was a kaikoo [strong seas] all around Hilo and Puna, and as a result of this kaikoo, some portions of the breakwater of Kaipalaoa at Hilo crumbled, and also as a result of the kaikoo, the sea water got into some of Puna’s springs which is something that normally does not happen.
