Death of Joseph Benigo Kaaoao, 1895.

That Welcoming Friend Has Passed On.

J. B. Kaaoao has left this life at his residence at Olowalu, Maui, this Sunday at 8 p.m., July 28, 1895, after wasting away from a tumor [mai puu] of the stomach, where he was bedridden for ten months and he died. He was born at Lahaina in Sept. 1829, from the loins of Keliiahonui (m) and Ailaau (f). He was 65 years old and 10 months. He was married to Lilia Kulia in 1846 by Rev. S. E. Bishop at Olowalu, and the couple had four children, two died and two survive. His wife died before him eight years ago, and Joseph B. Kaaoao is being put to rest in the same place. He is a kamaaina of his place of birth, Lahaina of the shade of the breadfruit grove, and a long time resident of his home where he died.
