DIED WHILE GATHERING FISH USING GIANT POWDER.
Please accept my bundle that I put before you, and it shall be you that will give it your all out amongst the public so that our friends who enjoy news will know about it, from the rising sun at Haehae to Lehua where the sun is held back and done. And this is it:
On the 27th of November past, that being a Monday, after 12 noon, Hanawai (m) left his home at Naalehu and went down to Paula with giant powder to blast fish. On his way, he was all alone. When he reached the shore of Paula, he used the giant powder, thinking that he would obtain fish; however, when he put it to use, the giant powder exploded, and his two arms were severed off and his forehead was burned.
He turned back while much blood was flowing, and when he returned to his house, he was weak, and Dr. Oliver was fetched to do amputations, but because he was weak, the amputations were put off, and this past Thursday there was the amputation, and after 7 p.m. he died not imagining he would get into this accident. He left behind a wife and children and grandchildren and a large family who grieve after him.
