MR. KALUNA KAHANANUI HAS PASSED ON.
In the early morning of Thursday, at 5 o’clock, March 21, the angel of death dragged away the life breath of my dear friend, Mr. Kaluna Kahananui, at 84 years old, and his land of birth was Hana, Maui. He came to Honolulu nei when he was young, and did work as a sailor long ago, and after that he worked on the interisland steamships, and then he went blind, and he became ill just a few days before he left this world; it began in his stomach.
His weakness began then, until he left this life. He lived in this home [Lunalilo Home] for three years.
Aloha for my dear friend, my dear friend of the single room in which we lived together for a long time, until he left this life.
Much thanks to the Alakai o Hawaii and your editor.
Honolulu, March 21, 1935.
