Containers of new birds.—Upon the trading ship of the Chinese that stopped here, there were containers of new birds. The thing these birds do is to eat creeping things of the earth, they being caterpillars [peelua], worms [koe], and so forth. This past Wednesday, those birds were released. Right after they were let go, they went quickly to seek out crawling things. The number of birds is one hundred eighty-four. Some of them died, but most lived. Therefore all who see these birds are prohibited from killing them, lest you get in trouble with the Law.
