An Old God Idol.—When a well was being dug [kohi] at Captain Adams’ place in Kalihi, a wooden god idol was found which was 18 inches long. It is an ugly kii, like that of Lualii them; but it was worshiped by the people of old as a god. Left with that kii was a tiny awa cup made out of rock, like the stone awa cups that were often at heiau in the olden days. It is said that the place where the wooden kii was found was an old heiau in times past. That kii went to one of the officers of the American man of war, Portsmouth, for him to display and something for him to keep to show as one of the ancient things of Hawaii nei.
