Plea from Kawaiahao Girls’ School, 1881.

[Found under: “NU HOU KULOKO.”]

Whereas Smallpox is spreading, it has fallen upon the kahu and teachers of the Kawaiahao Girls’ School the duty to care for the safety of the health of the students of the school.

Therefore, we ask for the goodwill and patience of the parents to put off coming to see their children until this great trouble has passed. The kahu and teachers will once again announce when it is alright for the parents to come; if one of the students is seen having difficulties, the teacher will explain this to their parents. At this time all of them are in good health.
