This missionary ship, Hokuao, quarantined for two weeks, 1881.

The ship, Hokuao [Hoku Ao; Morning Star] will be quarantined for two weeks before sailing for Micronesia, so that it does not carry smallpox to that archipelago. The quarantine will start on Monday of next week, that being the 20th of this month. Therefore, everyone sending anything on that ship, you must get it aboard this week. And all the letters must be deposited at the Book Office of the Hawaiian Board within those days.

A. O. Forbes [A. O. Polepe],
Secretary of the Hawaiian Board.
