HEINOUS ACT
Honolulu, Nov. 1—One of the most heinous acts was carried out by some people who know nothing of honor, or who know no fear of doing evil, by them breaking down the door of the Crypt of King Lunalilo at Kawaiahao, and they entered and took some adornments from the coffin, that being the silver plaque upon which was written the name of the King, as well as some other adornments. The coffins that were laid in the Crypt were broken, and perhaps some feather lei were stolen by those who have no respect for the dead.
This is perhaps the most evil act carried out in our land, and we know that it was surely not a Hawaiian who committed this wicked crime, but it was a people who are like very lowly animals. It will be a truly happy day when it is heard that those who carried out this basest of crimes have been apprehended.
