THE PRINCIPAL OF KALIHI WAENA SCHOOL FOUND GUILTY AND FINED $50.
Some time ago, the principal of Kalihi Waena School was sued for whipping William Furtado, one of the students of that school. When the case was heard in the district court of Honolulu nei, before Judge B. Lightfoot, the judge postponed his ruling, and the other day he gave his ruling and found the one sued guilty and fined him $50.00. According to the thoughts of the lawyer of the one sued and the principal, he (the principal) had a right to whip the student if he did not listen to the instructions of the teacher, but according to the lawyer of the government, the teacher has no right to strike students as per their own wishes.
The one who was fined, said through his lawyer that he will take this case before the Supreme Court, and he hopes as well as his lawyer that the Supreme Court will rule in their favor.
