Queen Liliuokalani purchased the portraits painted recently by Mr. Cogswell, for the price of under four thousand dollars. These portraits are appreciated for the careful work of the brush of the painter; therefore, the alii bought it. One of the paintings is of her brother who passed on, that being King Kalakaua, and one is of herself.
