Commentary on Chinese New Year, 1929.

THESE ARE THE KONOHI DAYS OF THE CHINESE PEOPLE

Just as usual for the Chinese lahui, so too are they doing this year, that is their celebrating their one holiday in the year known to us as the Konohi day.

However these past years, they have somewhat split, and some celebrate the day we celebrate, that being the 1st of January, and some celebrate theirs from old times. This is a day on which some of us rush about to the houses of the Chinese for konohi, and they are a gracious people to those who visit their homes on that day.

There is one humbug thing about that day, that being they do not sleep at night and wake everyone up when they set off firecrackers day and night, and those who go to work the next day are inconvenienced.
