The Birthday of the Crown Prince.
This coming Sunday, the 10th of January, is the birthday of the Prince W. P. Leleiohoku, and it will be the twentieth years of his life. He was born on the 10th of January, 1855, on the day of the funeral of King Kauikeaouli, and it is for that reason that he is called Kalahoolewa [“funeral day”]. From what we hear, that day will be celebrated as a holiday; however, because the day falls on the Sabbath, therefore, the commemoration will be left until Monday, that being the 11th of January of this year; this will be the first publicly celebrated day of his birth, where we will give majestic celebrations for the one who sits upon the Throne, representing his Elder Brother King who has left for foreign lands. With fond expectations, we hope that the holiday will be properly held all over the nation.
