QUEEN CONGRATULATES BANDMASTER KALANI

Peter Kalani, the newly appointed bandmaster, beat the measure with his official baton yesterday for the first time, at a morning concert given in Queen Liliuokalani’s grounds. The Queen thanked him for the attention and, in a little speech of good will, wished that he might make the Royal Hawaiian Band a permanent power in the world of music. In the evening the band played at Heinie’s Tavern.
