Kalakaua died in 1891 and Kapiolani died in 1899. The photo is dated 1903 – ?

  Aloha! Indeed, they were both passed on by 1903. This picture printed in the Kuokoa of 1903 is part of a nice series they were doing at the time of photos from the past.
