Yesterday [December 19] was the birthday of the Aliiwahine Mrs. Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Amongst the royal ones who have passed, Alii Pauahi is one who will live always in the memory of her lahui. She accumulated her great wealth, and before passing on, she left the majority to build the School for the descendants of her people. Her great desire was to teach her lahui English and appropriate knowledge for their progress. Today, there are hundreds who are blessed with knowledge gotten from these schools. She has passed, but she has left an unforgettable memorial standing on her land.
