Last Tuesday night, a party was held to commemorate the birthday of Queen Emma, her eighty-first. It was a luau at which were gathered the nurses of the Queen’s Hospital, along with the doctors, and some invited guests.

In the morning of Saturday, the 23rd of May, George Hueu Davis died, the son of Isaac Davis, the companion of John Young; from the two is where the name Nahaolelua comes. He was 71 years old; he lived with the girl, Miss Lucy Peabody, and died there.

The Treasurer of the Delegates’ Funds, Miss Lucy Peabody, received from the Head Secretary of the Patriotic League [Ahahui Aloha Aina] of the Hawaiian Archipelago, fifteen dollars ($15.00) from the Patriotic League of Kalaupapa, Molokai.
[Even fifteen dollars was a great sum of money during those days.]

Edgar Henriques and Miss Kalani Davis were quietly married at the home of Miss Lucy Peabody, Vineyard street, last evening [June 10, 1898], the Rev. Alex. Mackintosh officiating. Only the relatives were present. The newly married couple have gone to Waikiki for their honeymoon.

In the evening of this past Thursday, at Saint Andrews Church [luakini o Sana Anaru], joined by the Rev. J. Usebone was Miss Kalani Laanui and Charles Reeves, who is a haole that works at the Mutual Telephone Company [Hui Telepone Mutuala]. After the bond was tied, they went to place of Miss Luke Peabody [Lucy Pibode] at Kamanuwai, where a reception was held. A great majority of the people who came were those who know the bride.
