A friend of ours has died on the 1st of Mei, 1860; that is Abela Kekamakahi, someone loved by everyone.

This is why he died; he had a distended stomach [opu ohao], which he had for four months. He was treated by a haole man, and received comfort, thereafter he relapsed, and a Hawaiian kahuna appeared named Keahilele, and with his treatment, his body received no comfort. Continue reading

J. W. NAKUINA HAS PASSED ON.

On Sunday, the 16th of April, at Kakaako, Honolulu nei, the angel of death came and took away the last breath of J. W. Nakuina, at seventeen years old. On Saturday, the 16th of April, E. M. Kaiwilioho, a daughter of D. Kaiwilioho and Lulia; this is how she died: In the evening of Saturday, or afternoon perhaps, the parents ofthat girl left for their work, hula; and the grandparent and grandchildren remained at home; the mother went for limu at the ocean, and one of the grandchildren went Playing; at that time, the grandmother went out to bathe one of the grandchildren thinking that the other grandchild went with the mother to the ocean. Death of Rev. Orramel H. Gulick, 1923.

THAT OLD MINISTER OF HAWAII NEI HAS GONE.

After an illness for a number of months past, the Rev. Ornamel H. Kulika, the oldest pastor in Hawaii nei, grew weary of this life, at 93 or more years old, in his home at Manoa, at 4:15 in the afternoon of this past Tuesday. His funeral service was held in the old Kawaiahao Church at 4 in the afternoon of last week, and in the cemetery of the missionary teachers in the back of Kawaiahao Church is where his body was laid to rest for the time after. Someone died. Was it Mrs. Mary John B. Ii? 1885.

Died.—At Kaneohe, Koolau-poko, Oahu, Mrs. Mary John B. Ii [??] died on the 7th of September, 1885. She was born at Puapuaa iki, North Kona, Hawaii, on the 11th of April,1867, therefore, she lived 18 years, 4 months, and 26 days in this dispiriting world. She left behind her husband and baby who is without a mama, and some brothers, parents, and a large family. Aloha, aloha for her.

TWO DEATHS DUE TO EATING BALLOON FISH, SAYS CORONER’S JURY
