When, where, how and by whom has the name Palace square been changed to Union square? Surely the Provisional Government has not ratified such a childish piece of historic vandalism? Time enough for such a baby trick when Boston, Portsmouth, Annapolis and other towns in the United States change their names because they were originally called after towns and royal personages in England. Next we shall have these would-be iconoclasts changing the names of King, Queen, Kaahumanu and Kapiolani streets because they offend the esthetically-democratic ideas of the Tims and Macs who are having their brief hour of odious influence.

The Japanese Warship.

The Japanese Battleship Kongo docked Tuesday morning, and it saluted the Hawaiian Flag of the land; the flag of the Hawaiian Monarchy from before.

KA HAE HAWAII.

The Hawaiian Flag at this time is the Flag of the Monarchy, from times long ago; it is not the Flag of the Republic of Hawaii. That Flag is placed below the Palace; it is a Flag with a single star.

They despise all symbols relating to the Monarchy, and therefore all of the Hawaiian crowns affixed to the gates of the Palace have been removed, and the printing of the image of the crown has been discarded from all government notices; and this is how they attempt through all means to erase all of the streets and squares; they changed Palace Square [Kuea Alii] to Union Square [Union Square] and the Palace [Halealii] to the Executive Building [Hale Hooko], and so forth.

However, as for the Hawaiian Flag, it will prevail, yesterday, today, and for all times. The Hawaiian Flag of the Monarchy is what was saluted to by the warships this past Wednesday.

[Let us not deny the Hawaiian Flag for newly fashioned ones. May it indeed prevail for all times. E welo mau ka Hae Hawaii!]

David Malo and a prediction, 1894.

The prediction of David Malo.

Nearly 50 years ago, after the sunday service was let out from the Wainee Church in Lahaina, while it was Davida Malo who gave the prayer that sunday, Kaahumanu said to Davida Malo, “Our missionaries are good.” Davida Malo then replied to Kaahumanu, “The missionaries of ours will conspire against us [kipi].

“Tsa! How will they revolt, being that it was they who brought the word of God?” To which Davida Malo answered, “Perhaps they will not revolt, but the children after them, and the grandchildren after them; they will be the rebels.

“And the Alii who is ruling as Monarch at the time, that Alii will stand bare. And the Nation built then, that is the Nation that will stand securely.”

How astonishing is this great foresight of David Malo! and everything he predicted [wanana] has come true, except one remains, and then everything will have come true.

And we believe that all of this will come true.
