Past Aloha Week kings and queens of the Big Island will be honored during the Merry Monarch Festival pageant—”Hawaii’s Crowns”—April 2 at the Hilo Armory.
The pageant begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be open to the public at no cost.
“Hawaii’s Crowns” was written and staged by George Naope and will present Hawaii’s royalty from Kamehameha I to Queen Liliuokalani. Narrating will be Mrs. Elizabeth Beamer Dahlberg. Continue reading
HONORED ON BIRTHDAY—Mrs. Elizabeth Lahilahi Napua-I-kaumakani Webb, authority on Hawaiiana and who was associated with the Bishop Museum for more than 20 years, was honored by the Kaahumanu Society, on the occasion of her 86th birthday, at a luncheon Monday at the Waikiki home of Mrs. Clement K. LIHUE, Kauai, Jan. 29—There’s something a little special about William K. Kuwalu’s birthday tonight because he will be 100 years old. Kuwalu, who can probably lay claim to being Kauai’s oldest resident, was born on Jan. 29, 1849, on the little island of Niihau.

THE LUAU IS TO be given at his Waimea Valley home by his sons and daughters. His daughters are Mrs. Emily Baclayon of Kilauea and Mrs. Helen Yadao of Mana.

A large silver loving cup, the George Alanson Andrus trophy, will be presented tonight as the prize at the first annual interclass singing competition of the Kamehameha Boys’ School. the contest will be on the steps of Bishop museum and will be open to the public.
